The Institute is thrilled to announce the opening of its Members' Lounge: a sanctuary of calm, exclusivity, and modest square footage, reserved for our most discerning patrons.
A Space Apart
The Lounge occupies a prestigious position within the Institute: specifically, the hallway. It stretches an impressive several feet, from the front door to the cupboard from which a committee member once refused to emerge.
We have furnished it with intention. There is a coat hook. There is a small rug that Nigel describes as "anchoring." There is a chair, though it is in the permanent collection and may not be sat upon.
Member Privileges
Members of the Lounge enjoy benefits unavailable to the general public:
- The right to stand in the hallway with a sense of belonging.
- First refusal on coat hook access during busy periods (there are no busy periods).
- A complimentary feeling of having arrived.
On Exclusivity
We understand that demand will be high and space will be, candidly, a hallway. Admission is therefore strictly limited to those who truly understand the Institute, by which we mean those who do not ask why the lounge is a hallway.
Membership is not currently available, which only makes it more desirable. We thank our members, who do not exist, for their continued loyalty.
