Department of Authenticity & Dramatic Verification
Verify the provenance of an artwork.
Every artwork produced by the institute carries a unique provenance code. Enter it below to retrieve the official curatorial record, embarrassing origin story, and certificate of questionable authenticity.
Find the code
Located on the QR placard, provenance page, or printed on the back of any physical order. It looks like a short string of letters and numbers.
Enter or scan
Type the code into the field above, or scan the QR placard with your phone camera. Both routes lead to the same unnecessarily dramatic reveal.
Witness the record
The provenance page reveals the artwork, its curatorial wall label, and (if the collector permitted) the embarrassing source image behind the facade.
Why does provenance verification exist?
Because every serious institution needs an authentication desk, even if the work in question started life as a blurry photo of a kebab. The verification process is entirely real; the gravity with which we describe it is entirely performative.
Edition 1 of 1
The same source image and creative movement always produce the same composition. No tasteful duplicates, no sneaky re-editions.
Immutable record
Each provenance code links to the artwork, its wall label, and the collector's decision about whether to reveal or conceal the origin.
